Congressman Gabe Evans Introduces Immigration Reform Legislation

July 15, 2025

WASHINGTON —Today, U.S. Representatives Gabe Evans and Maria Salazar (FL-27) introduced the Dignity Act of 2025, bipartisan no-cost legislation that will reform the immigration system. The Dignity Act provides a practical, compassionate solution to the immigration crisis by securing the border, upholding the law, strengthening the workforce, and ensuring immigrants who have been in America long-term and are following the rules can earn legal status through accountability and contribution.

“As the grandson of Mexican immigrants and a former cop and soldier, I’ve seen firsthand the importance of a secure border and a fair immigration system,” said Congressman Gabe Evans. “I’m proud to help introduce Congresswoman Salazar's bipartisan Dignity Act, which prioritizes border security while delivering a practical solution for immigrants who want to work hard, follow our laws, and be productive members of society. Our legislation accomplishes what Latino business owners and community members have been asking for: give immigrants positively contributing to our community an opportunity to pursue the American Dream.”

“The Dignity Act is a revolutionary bill that offers the solution to our immigration crisis: secure the border, stop illegal immigration, and provide an earned opportunity for long-term immigrants to stay here and work,” said Congresswoman María Salazar. “No amnesty. No handouts. No citizenship. Just accountability and a path to stability for our economy and our future.”

The Dignity Act will:

  • Achieve full operational control of the border with 24/7 surveillance, barriers, drones, radar, and other modern enforcement tools.

  • Mandate nationwide E-Verify for all employers.

  • Crack down on traffickers, repeat border crossers, and criminal smugglers.

  • Use DNA testing to verify family relationships at the border.

  • Create the Dignity Program, offering legal status (not citizenship) for undocumented immigrants who have been in the U.S. before December 31, 2020 if they pay $7,000 in restitution, remain in legal compliance and receive no federal benefits.

  • Include protections for Dreamers who meet education, work, or military service standards.

  • Modernize and streamline the legal immigration system, reduce green card backlogs and create new temporary family and student visa options.

  • Establish a $70 billion investment in the American workforce — fully funded by fees from Dignity Program participants, not taxpayers.
