Rep. Evans Joins Republican Colleagues on Letter to OMB — Supporting Pay for Federal Law Enforcement
Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Gabe Evans (CO-08) joined seven House Republicans in a letter to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) supporting efforts to pay federal law enforcement during the current government shutdown.
President Trump rightfully directed Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth to ensure military servicemembers do not miss a paycheck as a result of the Democrat-driven government shutdown. As the shutdown drags into its 17th day, Rep. Evans and his colleagues expressed congressional support for reported OMB efforts to provide shutdown pay to federal law enforcement as a next step.
An excerpt from the letter reads:
“Federal law enforcement are currently performing dangerous, mission-critical work without pay—including Border Patrol, ICE agents, CBP officers, DEA, Secret Service, Federal Air Marshals, and Transportation Security Officers… This is especially true in this climate of increasingly hateful rhetoric and violence directed at these officers—from the recent sniper assault on an ICE facility in Dallas to the nationwide harassment, endangerment, and doxxing of federal agents by extremist groups like Antifa, and by cartels placing assassination bounties on law enforcement officials,” - the Members wrote.
Joining alongside Congressman Evans on the letter are Reps. Tom Barrett (MI-07); Bill Huizenga (MI-04); Michelle Fischbach (MN-07); Wesley Hunt (TX-38); John James (MI-10); Celeste Maloy (UT-02); and Derek Schmidt (KS-02).
