Rep. Evans Votes Once Again to Fund Government, Restore Pay for Troops and Federal Workers

November 12, 2025

Washington, DC – Today Congressman Gabe Evans voted in favor of the Senate-passed Continuing Resolution (CR) and three full-year appropriations bills to reopen the government — restoring funding, ensuring federal workers, air traffic controllers and our military get their pay and fully funding key programs that Americans rely on.

“For 42 days, Democrats have held the American people hostage; rejecting a clean bipartisan CR 15 times — the same clean, bipartisan CR they supported 13 times under Biden — denying pay to our troops and federal workers, while putting SNAP and other essential resources at risk. Today House Republicans are ending the Schumer shutdown, reopening our government, and fully funding three full-year appropriations bills that put America first by strengthening military and veteran programs, supporting our farmers and agricultural producers, and protecting vital resources like SNAP and WIC. I’m proud to vote for this package that restores certainty and critical services to Colorado’s 8th District.” - Congressman Gabe Evans

Today’s vote:

✅ Reopens the government immediately with a bipartisan CR.

✅ Guarantees backpay for federal workers, service members, law enforcement, and air traffic controllers.

✅ Immediately and fully funds SNAP

✅ Fully funds FY26 appropriations for Military Construction- VA, Agriculture, and the Legislative Branch.

Background:

On September 19th, 2025, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a clean bipartisan CR that would fully fund the government and ensure vital resources like SNAP and WIC benefits remained available for those who rely on them. The bill was sent to the Senate, where for over six weeks Democrats, including Colorado’s Senators Michael Bennet and John Hickenlooper, voted against the bill 15 times despite voting for the same bill 13 times under the Biden administration.

During this period, the Democrats’ shutdown denied paychecks to troops, air traffic controllers, federal law enforcement, and other federal workers, created uncertainty for families depending on nutrition assistance, and kept vital support from farmers and agricultural producers. House Republicans continued working to alleviate the harm caused by the prolonged closure and deliver a responsible solution that reopens the government and provides long term stability for American families.

Throughout the shutdown, Congressman Evans remained fully engaged in pushing for a resolution while choosing to forgo his pay — until the government reopened — to stand in solidarity with troops and federal workers who did not receive a paycheck during the shutdown. Additionally, he joined several Republican colleagues in letters calling for the immediate passage of the clean CR and pressing for the protection of SNAP, WIC, military pay, and essential federal operations. He continued meetings with local organizations, food banks, and community leaders in Colorado’s 8th District to ensure they had the support while Democrats kept the government closed.
