Congressman Evans announces guest ahead of 2026 State of the Union Address

WASHINGTON –– Ahead of what is expected to be a historic State of the Union Address, Congressman Gabe Evans announced he will bring his wife, Anne, as his guest. This evening will highlight both the progress our nation has made and the families who make that service possible.

Tonight’s State of the Union Address comes at a pivotal moment for our country. In just over a year Republicans in Congress, alongside President Donald Trump — have taken decisive action to restore strength, security, and affordability for American families — and the results are impossible to ignore.

Cost of Living

• Working Families Tax Cuts: Delivered an average tax cut of $3,750 per filer; increased the Child Tax Credit to $2,200 and made it permanent.

Lowering Housing Costs

• Mortgage rates have fallen to a three-year low.
• Passed the Housing for the 21st Century Act to slash red tape, modernize HUD, and lower the cost of building new homes.

Inflation

• Inflation has fallen to 2.4 percent — a 70 percent drop from the peak 9 percent

Energy Dominance

• Gas prices are at a four-year low
• $12B in new energy revenue
• American energy is roaring back

Border Security

• We’ve had nine straight months of zero releases
• Border Patrol apprehensions are down 96% from the previous administration’s monthly average

Creating American Jobs

• Private Sector Growth: Added 172,000 new private sector jobs in January alone; 100% of new jobs under Trump are in the private sector
• Made in America: Enacted a $10,000 tax break for American-made vehicle loans and implemented 100 percent expensing for new U.S. factories
• Small Business Support: Doubled small business expenses to encourage local growth and hiring

Securing Election Integrity

• Passed the SAVE America Act to ensure only U.S. citizens vote in federal elections by requiring proof of citizenship

Putting Public Safety First

• A new report from the Major Cities Chiefs Association shows violent crime is plummeting across major U.S. cities between 2024 and 2025
• Homicides fell 21 percent
• Robberies dropped 20 percent
• Aggravated assaults are down nearly 10 percent in 2025 across 67 of the nation’s biggest police departments
• Denver saw one of the highest drops in homicide rates in the nation
