This project would construct and install a full wellhead assembly to serve as a demonstration site for students to gain valuable hands-on training experience. This project also invests in innovative educational equipment to expand the current capabilities of the classrooms and laboratories to incorporate simulation-based learning. Aims is located in Weld County, which produces 83% of oil and 56% of natural gas in Colorado. This investment provides crucial long-term safety, mobility, and system preservation advantages that align with state and regional transportation goals. This section of WCR7 is often used as a bypass to 1-25 during times of heavy congestion, and the upcoming 5-year reconstruction of I-25 segment 5 heightens the immediate need for this project to relieve traffic congestion and enhance safety of motorists, construction personnel, and emergency responders.

Beyond its immediate impact, this project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because it sustains long-term workforce development in Adams County. As Colorado continues to position itself as a national leader in advanced manufacturing, this project will strengthen the local talent pipeline, ensuring that jobs and economic growth remain within the state. The 88th Avenue corridor is currently a two-lane street lacking multimodal facilities and shoulders and often faces significant congestion that creates delays for travelers, including freight and emergency response vehicles. The project will improve the flow of traffic for daily commuters, implement safe travel lanes for pedestrians and cyclists in the neighborhood, and contribute to the economic prosperity of our community.

This project would implement specific safety interventions for long-term relief, designed to improve vehicle safety, enhance safety for vulnerable road users, mitigate speeding, and improve intersection lighting. This section serves as an important connection for students as well, providing access to the Greeley West High School as well as nearby elementary schools, parks, and other important community destinations.
