Congressman Gabe Evans releases statement on Operation Epic Fury

February 28, 2026

WASHINGTON – Congressman Gabe Evans (CO-08) released a statement following the announcement of Operation Epic Fury, a U.S. combat operation targeting the Iranian regime’s nuclear infrastructure.

“For 47 years the Iranian regime has terrorized its own people and supported terrorist groups that killed Americans and our allies. Repeated efforts from the U.S. to negotiate in good faith and halt the expansion of Iran’s nuclear weapons program were met with deception and defiance, as the radical regime rejected every opportunity for peace.

Operation Epic Fury is a necessary step to eliminate Iran’s nuclear weapon capabilities, eliminate imminent threats to the United States and our allies, and defend our core national security interests. The United States has strong support from ally nations in the Middle East and will help liberate the Iranian people.

As a U.S. Army combat veteran, I know the weight of these decisions. I am praying for every brave American service member carrying out this mission as they risk their lives to ensure the safety and longevity of our country and our allies across the world.” — Congressman Gabe Evans

Background:

Operation Epic Fury comes after years of escalating aggression from the Iranian regime, including direct threats against the U.S. forces, regional allies, and the homeland. Just last month marked the deadliest repression of the Iranian people by Khamenei’s radical regime.  When thousands of men, women, and young people flooded the streets to demand simple human rights, they were met by mass killings, unlawful arrests, and threats made to their families.

In June of last year, Operation Midnight Hammer successfully targeted key elements of Iran’s weapons infrastructure in response to imminent threats against U.S. personnel and allied interests. Despite that operation, Iranian leadership continued advancing its nuclear capabilities and supporting proxy attacks throughout the region.

After months of failed diplomatic negotiations aimed at securing the immediate and permanent dismantling of Iran’s nuclear weapons program, the regime refused to abandon its development efforts. There is no place for Khamenei’s authoritarian regime or its proxy terrorism in this world. Iran has undermined peace in the Middle East and across the globe, and we are going to work with our allies to ensure safety and freedom for all.
