Congressman Gabe Evans Votes To Denounce Socialism In All Its Forms
WASHINGTON, DC — Congressman Gabe Evans voted in favor of Representative Maria Salazar's H.Con.Res.58. The House Concurrent Resolution, titled Denouncing the Horrors of Socialism passed with broad bipartisan support, despite members of Colorado’s own delegation — Reps. Diana DeGette (CO-01) and Joe Neguse (CO-02) — voting against it.
“I joined my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to denounce Socialism in all its forms. As the only Latino member of Colorado’s congressional delegation representing a district that is 40% Hispanic, I’ve heard firsthand about the consequences that socialist policies have on families. Countries like Cuba, the Soviet Union, and Venezuela have all suffered at the hands of this extremist ideology — leading to poverty, famine, and other humanitarian devastation.
We must condemn the toxic system of Socialism that enables authoritarians like Castro, Maduro, and Chavez to strip away the natural rights of all people and continue to support the principles of liberty, economic freedom, and prosperity that allow our citizens to pursue the American Dream.” - Congressman Gabe Evans
Background:
This House Concurrent Resolution resolves that Congress denounces socialism in all its forms and opposes the implementation of socialist policies in the United States.
Socialism has repeatedly led to famine and mass murders, and the killing of over 100,000,000 people worldwide.
Following the recent election of a democratic socialist, Zohran Mamdani, to be the next mayor of New York City, this resolution affirms that House Republicans and Democrats condemn socialist policies which inevitably lead to tyranny and death and are antithetical to the American Dream.
