Rep. Evans Statement on Continuing Resolution

March 11, 2025

WASHINGTON – Congressman Gabe Evans issued the following statement after voting for the Continuing Resolution:

“I support keeping the government open, supporting our military, and protecting services to Colorado families, seniors, and small businesses. A shutdown would hurt those who rely on government services, delay critical relief, and weaken border security. I will always fight for responsible governance that strengthens our nation,” said Congressman Evans.

By voting for the continuing resolution, Rep. Evans supported:

✅ Not shutting down the government.

✅ Identifying waste, fraud, and abuse of our tax dollars.

✅ Fully funding the largest junior enlisted pay raise in over 40 years.

✅ Fully funding military and veterans’ benefits.

✅ Empowering federal immigration authorities to continue cracking down on criminal illegal immigrants and securing the border.

✅ Protecting Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid recipients from the disruptions and confusion a shutdown would cause.

✅ Fully funding important nutrition assistance to mothers, infants, and children, including a $500M+ increase for WIC.

Let's be clear, those who chose not to vote in favor of the CR, voted for:

  • Small businesses to not be able to obtain loans from the SBA.

  • Relief projects to be delayed.

  • Assistance programs to run out of funding and not be able to provide food for children and parents in need.

  • National parks to be closed.
