Armed Forces
Service is in my blood. My Grandpa Chavez gained his American citizenship by serving in World War II. I served 12 years in the Army - including a combat deployment to the Middle East - the Colorado Army National Guard as a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter pilot, and as an Arvada police officer.
Military:
After serving in the War on Terror, I strongly believe we can be doing more to strengthen our military. We must do more to deter our adversaries and partner with good actors. It should be a priority to maintain a strong military presence on the global stage and restore America’s military superiority, not waste time on frivolous, virtue-signaling programs like DEI. This starts with ensuring our service members have proper pay and benefits, as well as the tools to keep themselves and our country safe.
Through my seat on the Homeland Security Committee, I am prepared to put our country’s interests first. For too long, America has allowed other countries to take advantage of us. It is time we show strength as a nation.
Space Force:
Our district is home to a large aerospace company in Larimer County and home to many folks who work at Peterson Space Force Base. I strongly support keeping the United States Space Command at Peterson Space Force Base in Colorado Springs and oppose the efforts to move it to a new location. Transferring the Space Command at such a turbulent time would jeopardize our national security, needlessly put American lives at risk, and create an unnecessary waste of taxpayer resources.
