Companion legislation was introduced in the U.S. Senate by Senators Dan Sullivan (R-AK) and Ben Lujan (D-NM) making the bill both bipartisan and bicameral.

WASHINGTON — Congressman Gabe Evans released the following statement after Senate Democrats, including Colorado Senators Bennet and Hickenlooper, shut down the government by failing to pass a clean continuing resolution. They voted against H.R. 5371, the Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act of 2026, resulting in a government shutdown beginning today, October 1, 2025.
